Birth Equity Organizations and Associations 

  • Center for Indigenous Midwifery. Strengthening community by honoring, supporting, and reclaiming Indigenous midwifery care. Zoomcasts explore a wide variety of topics and stories reflecting Indigenous birth and family life.
  • California Nurse Midwives Foundation, Student Midwife Funding: CNMF invests in the diversification of midwifery care and understands that the barriers to completing your program are unique to you. We would like to get funding into your hands to support the success of your education and help you thrive during your program. We prioritize communities historically excluded from midwifery in our funding (BIPOC, LGBTQ+).
  • California Health Care Foundation's quality-improvement initiative Improving Birth Equity in California’s Health Care System is designed to improve birth care, experiences, and outcomes for, by, and with Black mothers and birthing people in California.
  • Equity in Midwifery Education aims to amplify the voices and perspectives of midwives and aspiring midwives of color and serve as a living repository for the transformative ideas and tools necessary to bring about equity in midwifery education and training.  
  • National Birth Equity Collaborative creates transnational solutions that optimize Black maternal, infant, sexual, and reproductive wellbeing. NBEC shifts systems and culture through training, research, technical assistance, policy, advocacy, and community-centered collaboration.
  • National Black Midwives Alliance has the goal to have a representative voice at the national level that clearly outlines the various needs of Black Midwives.
  • National Association to Advance Black Birth works to combat the effects of structural racism within maternal and infant health to advance black birth outcomes.
  • Melanated Midwives mission is to diversify the midwifery profession and empower Black birth parents with resources and tools to successfully navigate their prenatal and postpartum care.
